satellitedata.net serves satellite imagery. To do that it keeps a small amount of information about requests, for running the service: quotas, errors and costs. It is not sold, shared for advertising or used to profile anyone. The sites use no cookies.

Visits to these pages

The sites count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, does not follow you across sites and does not identify you: it records the page you opened, the page that linked to it, your browser and device type, your country, and how quickly the page loaded, and shows them only as totals.

In your browser

The map keeps your API key, if you enter one, and your display choices (such as cloud masking) in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are sent nowhere except as described below: the key goes only to satellitedata.net's own API addresses. "Change key" or clearing site data removes them.

Requests to the API

Each request to the map tiles, the search and the API is logged with:

These logs do not record IP addresses. They are kept for three months and then deleted. Your key's monthly request count is kept by the API's quota system for the current month.

Downloads

Files you download are written to private storage and deleted after one day. Their download links work for one hour.

The demo

The keyless demo searches Earth Search directly and draws its imagery from a test server at Hetzner in Finland, behind Cloudflare. That server keeps an ordinary web server log of each request (the time, the address requested, the Cloudflare address it arrived from, and your browser's user-agent string), plus anonymous statistics (time, result, size and timing). Cloudflare sits in between, so the server never sees your own IP address.

Requests for a key

If you ask for a key at satellitedata.net/access/, we keep your name, your email and what you wrote, to decide on the request and to send you the key by email. The request is deleted 90 days after it is decided, or 2 days after you sent it if you never confirm your email. If it is approved, your name and email stay with your key until the key is revoked. The owner is told about each new request through a private ntfy notification, which carries your name and what you wrote but not your email. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots.

Area watches

If you watch an area, we keep its box, its name, your choices and the email your key was sent to, and, for each new image of the box, a few numbers: how much of it the image covers, how much of that is cloud, and the index's average. Those numbers are kept for 400 days; the watch until you delete it. Every watch email has a link to stop it, and deleting a watch deletes its numbers.

Fields

If you save fields, we keep each one's shape, name and settings with your key until you delete it. Statistics measured over a saved field are kept until you delete the field (and measured again each night for new images), so charts load quickly; for a shape you did not save, 400 days. They hold numbers about the images, not about you.

Questions

Reply to the email that brought your key, or ask the person who gave it to you. The same way, you can ask for your information to be removed: revoking a key deletes the name and email kept with it, and the request itself is deleted 90 days after it was decided.
